The thrill and excitement of the 2022 College Football Playoff National Championship culminates in a weekend of events that will have downtown Indy buzzing with excitement. You can expect fan activations around every corner, and the compact campus means everything is walkable. So, clear your calendar Saturday, January 8 - Monday, January 10, 2022 and throw on your favorite jersey because you’ll be fully immersed in all things college football – from tailgates to fan fests to concerts!
Leading up to the big game, the Indianapolis Host Committee will roll out new initiatives throughout the year to bring the excitement statewide! Look for details below surrounding the Indiana Tailgate Tour, with more community events coming soon.

Throughout the IHSAA football regular season, the Indiana Tailgate Tour will be present at 18 high school football games across Indiana where attending fans can participate in prize giveaways, corn hole and exciting football-skill activities with USA Football prior to kickoff.
Championship Campus in downtown Indy will provide a fan-friendly, walkable footprint featuring a comprehensive festival of attractions and activities. Throughout the weekend, guests will enjoy Championship Campus by experiencing CFP signature events such as Playoff Fan Central, Playlist Live!, Championship Tailgate Plaza, Media Day, the Extra Yard 5K and Taste of the Championship.
AT&T Playoff Playlist Live! will serve as the ultimate soundtrack for championship weekend in downtown Indy by providing fans with a multi-day, free concert series featuring top level artists. The location, schedule and talent will be announced at a later date.
Fans will enjoy free, outdoor entertainment at Championship Tailgate Plaza, the quintessential tailgating atmosphere for the CFP National Championship. The plaza will feature activities and games, live ESPN broadcasts and a pregame concert.
Playoff Fan Central will give fans the opportunity to be a part of the College Football Playoff National Championship through its 200,000 square-foot interactive experience inside the Indiana Convention Center. The family-friendly event includes games, clinics, pep rallies, band performances, special guest appearances, autograph signings and exhibits celebrating college football and its history.
The Extra Yard 5K is the official road race of the College Football Playoff. The family-friendly 3.1-mile run/walk takes participants through the streets of downtown Indianapolis. The post-race tailgate party will feature live entertainment, activities with race sponsors, an awards ceremony and more. Proceeds benefit the CFP Foundation’s Extra Yard for Teachers initiative.
The Taste of the Championship is an opportunity for fans to sample gourmet food and drinks from dozens of chefs from across Indianapolis and around the country in support of Extra Yard for Teachers. The evening provides attendees with the unique combination of exploring local culture and cuisine, while celebrating the teaching profession and the educational mission of the CFP Foundation.
Media Day will feature one-hour sessions with student-athletes and coaches from each of the CFP National Championship participating teams. Hundreds of credentialed media members will attend the event that will feature live broadcasts from conference networks alongside activations by social media giants Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Fans will be provided with a complimentary radio to listen in as student-athletes and coaches from the CFP National Championship teams are interviewed. The event is free and open to the public and additional details will be announced at a later date.
